While it is nice to be able to enjoy sitting out on your veranda during the height of the summer and soaking up the sun’s rays, too much sun doesn’t do any of us any good. Verandas tend to be covered by some kind of roof to a certain degree, but that doesn’t always prevent us from catching the sun when it moves round to bathe the back of the property.
Installing your veranda is just the first step to creating a garden space that you will want to use as much as possible. The next stage is to concentrate on the surrounding landscaping, to make sure you have a pleasant and enjoyable view to look out on all year round.
Your veranda essentially stands between your house and your garden, but that doesn’t mean you should view it as a solid structure. It can work well to bring elements of the garden onto your veranda by clever use of pots and troughs to blend the two in together.
There’s nothing quite like relaxing on your veranda and enjoying the long summer evenings with a cool drink in your hand, waiting for the barbecue to fire up so you can cook some homemade burgers to enjoy al fresco.
But even in the height of summer it can get a little chilly sitting outside as the sun goes down and it starts getting dark. There’s nothing better than enjoying your veranda late at night as you watch the stars above – but if you don’t have a patio heater you won’t feel like staying outside for very long.
